House Willett - A Mediterranean-inspired family villa

This latest house project in the UK is a bespoke, two-storey family villa in Reading. The clients came to us with a very clear set of ideas about how they wanted their house to look. They visited reference homes in the UK and came to Germany to see our production facilities and design centre. Ultimately, they were convinced by our flexible construction system and commitment to sustainability.

The new house is inspired by contemporary Mediterranean homes, with a render and stone façade, a canopy over the entrance, terraces at the back and extensive glazing. Light floods into the hallway through a double-height corner window with a post and beam construction. The stunning timber staircase is testament to our outstanding craftsmanship. The volumes at the back of the house project into the garden at various angles, offering new perspectives and allowing natural light to enter the rooms from different directions.  

The interior design is characterised by elegant shapes, clean lines and natural hues and textures. Curved walls with subtle lighting and recessed skirting boards give the rooms an organic feel. Shades of grey and green contrast with natural timber furnishings and white curtains.

The clients want to live in their house into old age. A downstairs room can be converted into a ground-floor bedroom, with space in the guest WC for a walk-in shower, as well as a lift. Sliding pocket doors act as clever partitions, creating more intimate spaces when needed.
