House Adler is a modern family home in Jersey in the Channel Islands, set on a large plot with a spacious driveway. The clients already lived in the house but needed more space to meet their family’s growing needs. They approached Baufritz who built a free-standing, double-storey extension alongside the house, while the original structure was refurbished using Baufritz materials. The result is a streamlined, contemporary barn-style home that meets modern expectations of comfort, functionality and energy efficiency while fully respecting local planning constraints. This flagship project marks Baufritz’s expansion into a new market segment in the UK, offering luxury extensions that combine contemporary architecture with proven Baufritz quality and sustainability standards.

Space for socialising

Grand, double entrance doors open onto the heart of the house: an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area designed for family life and entertaining guests. The double-height space over the dining table creates a sense of space, while floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural daylight to flood in. A striking fireplace clad in local Jersey stone acts as a room divider separating the lounge from the kitchen and dining area.

Deliciously dark interiors 

The living room is a more intimate space that is ideal for cosy evenings in good company. A dark colour palette with rich shades of brown, beige and cream combine with gold highlights to provide a touch of luxury and elegance. Timber panelling echoes the façade design and creates a perfect backdrop for exclusive artwork.

Blueprint for bespoke house extensions

House Adler is a stunning example of how an outdated structure can be successfully integrated into a modern concept. Baufritz built a double-storey side extension as a stand-alone building with a small gap to the old house, which was filled with insulation material. The existing house was refurbished using Baufritz materials, such as our signature timber cladding, to produce a homogeneous architectural ensemble.

Garden getaway 

The landscaped garden features a spacious terrace with a swimming pool and hot tub, a pool house with an outdoor kitchen and BBQ, as well as an outdoor lounge. Palm trees that thrive in the mild climate of the Channel Islands add a tropical touch, for a holiday feeling all year round.

Where comfort meets calm 

Ceiling-high windows make the spacious master bedroom a bright and comfortable room with wonderful views of the garden. Beige hues and artwork on the wall have a calming effect. The ensuite bathroom with a skylight and the walk-in dressing room are located off the bedroom in the smaller wing of the extension.
