House Adler - Bespoke home extension

Baufritz UK is expanding into a new market segment in the UK and the Channel Islands with energy-efficient, design-led home extensions that combine contemporary architecture with proven Baufritz quality and sustainability standards.

House Adler is a modern family home in Jersey in the Channel Islands. Planning permission was conditional on the original building being retained. Baufritz came up with a clever and practical solution: We designed and built a bespoke and energy-efficient extension, while the existing building was refurbished by a trusted partner company using Baufritz materials and integrated seamlessly into the new design.

The house comprises three, slightly offset volumes. The new, spacious extension features an open-plan kitchen, living and dining area designed for family life and entertaining guests. A double-height void over the dining area creates an airy, light-filled space, while floor-to-ceiling sliding doors offer direct access to the terrace outside. The focal point is a striking ceiling-high statement fireplace that acts as a room divider separating the kitchen and dining area from the living space. Muted colours and natural materials such as timber and granite are repeated throughout the house and provide a touch of elegance. The result is a streamlined, contemporary home that meets modern expectations of comfort, functionality and energy efficiency while fully respecting local planning constraints.
