The Gardet development in Chambésy comprises individual units, each with its own private sphere, enhanced by unfussy and carefully conceived architecture. The beautiful, generous gardens are a particular feature of this project; also striking is the large roof light to the airy entrance hall and stairwells. The options built in to our healthy architecture allow Baufritz buildings to be extended by a further floor. The Gardet house, like all Baufritz buildings, is made to be accessible.

Additional information

Multi-Family House / Terrace house gardet

The Gardet development comprises four houses, each set back a little further than the others. This layout provides residents with private space by their front doors as well as, crucially, on the terrace to the rear of the house. Construction in cubes takes the architecture back to basics here. The striking U-shaped projection on the rear of each block was designed to frame the view to the garden. It accentuates the building's façade, while sheltering part of the terrace and all of the balcony from the worst weather. The grey wooden façade ties in nicely with the form of the building, presenting a sleek, timeless appearance and blending in well with its natural surroundings.
Environmentally-friendly construction methods and a healthy lifestyle are convincingly combined here with harmonious design, in homes made for families. The fact these homes are also energy-efficient will certainly benefit the family budget.
From the street, the four cubes present a friendly but reserved appearance, yet they really open up onto the garden: their almost fully glazed frontage brings the outside spaces into daily life. The ground floor has open-plan kitchen, dining and living areas and is dominated by floor-to-ceiling French windows giving onto the terrace and garden.
A study right by the entrance, and a shower room, round off the rooms on this floor. The first floor is equally well designed: a spacious landing leads to the master bedroom at the front of the house, with its own ensuite shower room. The other first floor rooms are a family bathroom with elegant grey and white colour scheme, and two further rooms which serve as children's or guest rooms. These back bedrooms share the large, covered balcony – accessed via tall sliding glass doors, like the patio doors below. A large roof light above the stairs allows a lot of natural light into the heart of each house.
The owner does not live in any of the properties, but built these four homes as an investment. He chose Baufritz because he valued the healthy construction methods, individual approach to planning and high quality for which we are well known.
