Trees are critical allies in our fight against climate change: they store the carbon dioxide (CO2) that adds to global warming, protect soils from erosion, and create an important habitat for numerous animal species. We know it in black and white how many trees can be saved by consistently using recycled paper: We have saved around 55 spruce trees this year alone by using more than 37 tonnes of environmentally friendly recycled paper.
One spruce tree is equivalent to 1.8 tonnes of CO2. Our total of 55 spruce trees translates to a total of 99 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
We are firm advocates of sustainability and consistently implement corporate-wide strategies that reflect our mission. This means we print on 100% recycled paper, use only environmentally friendly inks and green printing methods. This saves approximately 99 tonnes of CO2 that would otherwise be released through printing our brochures every year.
We use the carbon calculator developed by a well-known tropical forests foundation to calculate the number of trees saved: At http://tinyurl.com/jkmthkk, every consumer can calculate for themselves how many trees they could save by using recycled paper.
