The project was to extend a rectangular, period house with an existing one-storey ground floor extension, in order to create the desired living and working space. In addition, the modern extension should harmoniously fit into the romantic, natural garden and still provide a visual highlight.
The architect and client has known Baufritz to be a competent and efficient partner for high quality, prefabricated constructions, which are rapid to assemble.
The result: A modern, two-storey construction with generous living and working space true to the motto "Classic meets Modernity". The new build extension was erected on site in just one day.
The rear walls of the existing building are kept in classic white. Red facade panels and white mineral plaster in the middle section create a smooth transition between old and new. The extension looks subtle and modern due to its slim, natural wood construction. Stainless steel elements, such as the integrated downpipe and the maintenance-free roof gable, formally frame the view. These are just two examples of how cleverly refined design elements can be combined with practical benefits.
The well thought out layout locates the commercial space on the ground floor with a separate entrance, making for bright, comfortable office and meeting rooms. Those who give a little impetus to their creativity, let their gaze wander for a few minutes into the beautiful garden. Thanks to the special folding-sliding French doors in the studio, the work area can be supplemented at any time with a few square meters of nature. A small tea kitchen and a guest bathroom in the former annex, completes the architect's office.
The private area in the attic is connected to the old building via a staircase. The visually striking exterior staircase provides access to the annex. Here the architect has created her personal hideaway. The entrance area accesses the light-flooded living area. From here a staircase leads to a small gallery directly under the roof, designed for reading and contemplation. The practical skylight creates optimal lighting conditions and lets nature into the house. The luxurious bathroom with sauna was added to the single storey extension of the existing building. To complete the space, there is an eat-in kitchen and bedroom, both of which are located in the existing part of the building.
