Our 'chain house' concept builds on the idea of a traditional terrace, in an innovative and extremely attractive way. The houses do not stand directly next to one another, but are separated by a garage on either side. These garages look like joints linking the houses, so when viewed from above the row of homes and garages looks like a chain. This separation allows the occupants more peace, quiet and space in which to retreat and fully enjoy their healthy home.

AN INNOVATIVE VARIATION ON THE TRADITIONAL TERRACE

The larger the population in a country, the more densely it is built up. This is a challenge Baufritz have addressed, working with architecture professor Hans-Georg Stotz to seek innovative and sometimes surprising solutions while maintaining our usual high quality standards. Four different architecture concepts for multi-family buildings emerged from this cooperation; all have charm and sophistication, and within each one the individual occupants have a maximum of autonomy.

A TERRACE WITH OPEN SPACE

The idea of a chain of houses builds on the idea of a traditional terrace in an innovative and extremely attractive way. The houses do not stand directly next to one another, but are separated by a garage on either side. These garages look like joints linking the houses, so when viewed from above the row of homes and garages looks like a chain. Thus the occupants have more peace, quiet and space for themselves – as with the sheltered open-air seating area above the garage.

Another benefit here is the floor plan, which is more generous than in typical terraces. Including the garage, the dimensions are 10.66 by 10.51m. A conventional terrace measures around 12 by 6m. The extra living area and façade bring real benefits, as occupants enjoy more light and space. The extra façade area also showcases our multi-award-winning Bauhaus architectural style, built from high-grade timber.

WHAT DO OUR CUSTOMERS WANT?

- An innovative, multi-family building in terraced format
- Individual units separated by garages
- A space-saving layout that maintains comfort and healthy living standards

WHAT SOLUTIONS DO WE OFFER?

The 125m² chain house is ideal for small families with up to 2 children. The flexible floor plan and step-free ground-floor access can help several generations to live together.
This also means the 'chain house' is increasingly used for assisted living, for example in projects where multiple generations of several families live together.

Our creative implementation and cost calculations are driven by you knowing exactly what you want. So take a look at our ideas and designs for some inspiration: we provide detailed examples of how multi-family architecture can be cleverly conceived, in harmony with nature.

BAUFRITZ QUALITY MEANS VALUABLE PROPERTY, LONG TERM

Experts in banking and building single out Baufritz properties as having a high resale value. This value is created by their design, by their healthy construction method and certified cradle-to-cradle sustainability, and by their contribution to climate protection. These qualities can only appreciate in value: Baufritz buildings are well worth living and investing in, now and for future generations.

INTELLIGENT LONG-TERM COST SAVINGS

The flexibility of Baufritz architecture allows our buildings to be extended by a further floor. Features facilitating this include a hidden door frame which can be opened up as required. Another option is to make internal and external walls non load-bearing, which allows rooms to be changed or extended without difficulty on either side of the wall. This allows Baufritz homes the flexibility to fit your future plans and living arrangements.

All Baufritz buildings can be planned as accessible on request, either fully or in part.
